Arboretum Contemporary
A simple and straightforward project, these clients wanted to replace the dining room chairs in their home overlooking the Arboretum. The previous chairs were a gorgeous, modern design in teak-colored leather from an English designer. The chrome base, however, was a tripod arrangement that never felt entirely stable or safe. Additionally, over the years, the leather had developed a patina that was feeling worn and dingy. The clients asked for an exploration of options that would feel safe, comfortable, and stylish, and stand up to regular use and contact with food and wine. We landed on a classic - the Eames Molded Plastic Side Chair. In a newly released brick red color, these captured the warm leather tones that the previous seating had added to the space. We did a walnut leg with white wire, creating a visual reference to their modern white dining table.
